DURHAM
Durham is the "City of Medicine," it is renowned for its
health research and development. It is the corner stone of the
research triangle of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill - Cary.
Durham is the home to Duke university, North Carolina Central
College, Durham Technical College and North Carolina school of
Science and Mathematics
Although Durham was built on a thriving tobacco industry,
today the tobacco industry is gone and has been replaced with
the medical industry. Durham today is know as “ The City of
medicine”. This description is based on the medical research
at Duke University and the large contingency of medical
practitioner and medical researchers in the area. Durham is
also a great sports city with the famous miner league baseball
team the Durham Bulls, made famous by the movie that was made
about the team called “ Bull Durham”. Besides the Durham
bulls, Durham is known for its outstanding college teams of
baseball, football, basketball and other sports that compete
on a national level.
